[International Understanding] Waste Sorting——The second period of the theme day of international understanding

On March 5, 2021, at the fourth session of the 13th National People's Congress, Premier Li Keqiang pointed out in the government work report: "continue to prohibit the entry of foreign garbage, and orderly promote the classification of urban domestic garbage."
After the implementation of waste classification in Shanghai, Beijing and other cities, Chengdu City has followed closely. The "Chengdu Municipal Domestic Waste Management Regulations (Draft)" has been implemented since April 1.
In the face of garbage sorting, teachers and students of Shuangliu Art and Sports Middle School are taking action. Now, please join us in the second phase of international understanding theme day!
为响应号召，提高同学们的环保意识，引导同学们在生活中正确地进行垃圾分类，培养同学们用英语自信表达的能力，2021年4月21日，国际理解系列课程主题日第二期活动-----Waste Sorting (垃圾分类)在四川省双流艺体中学学术厅2楼录播教室如期进行。
In order to respond to the call, improve students' awareness of environmental protection, guide students to classify garbage correctly in life, and cultivate students' ability to express themselves confidently in English, waste sorting, the second period of theme day of international understanding courses, was held on April 21, 2021 in the video classroom on the 2nd floor of academic hall of Sichuan Shuangliu Art and Sports Middle School .
In this activity, students learn the relevant knowledge of garbage classification by watching videos, simulation operation, Knowledge Q & A, etc.
Under the guidance of the two English teachers Xiang min and Qu Xia, Peng Yi and Li ruoyao from Class 3 and 10 of Senior three led 40 students from Grade 2 of Junior high school to carry out a learning and practice activity of "garbage sorting"

首先，高三（3）班的彭毅同学用一段震撼的堆积如山的垃圾视频让同学们看到了保护环境迫在眉睫。然后他抛出问题让同学们讨论：What can we do to protect the environment?初二的同学们积极讨论并提出了自己的建议，最后进行了总结。
First of all, Peng Yi of Class 3 Senior Three let the students see the urgency of protecting the environment with a shocking garbage video . Then he asked the students to discuss: what can we do to protect the environment? The students from Junior Two actively discussed and put forward their own suggestions, and finally summarized.

First, let’s enjoy a video.
From the video, we can see we had done so much harms to our environment.
Then , what can we do to protect our environment?
Just as you say, we can do plant trees, deal with waste...
What ways to dal with the waste, do you know?
In order to have a better understanding of dealing with the waste, let’s enjoy another video.
From the video, we can see two traditional ways to deal with the waste---landfills and waste incineration, but they have many disadvantages.
OK, compared with the traditional way of collecting waste, the waste sorting has brought many benefits.
Then, Li ruoyao from Class 10 of Senior Three introduced how to classify garbage. She showed you four kinds of garbage, including recyclable garbage, harmful garbage, kitchen waste and other garbage, and what are included ineach kind of garbage. She also actively interacted with the students to classify the garbage.

As we know, Chengdu has carried out the waste sorting. In Chengdu, life waste can generally be divided into four categories. What are they?
Recyclable waste bin (blue):glass, paper, cloth
hazardous waste bin(red) : paint, lamp, waste battery
kitchen waste bin (green) : leftover, fruit peel
other waste bin(gray): toilet paper, muck,pet dropping
Then ,let’s have a test---sort those waste into 4 waste bins.

本次以Waste sorting(垃圾分类)为主题的国际理解主题日活动, 在初高中同学的交流互动中结束，同学们深刻体会到了自然环境与我们息息相关，并认真为垃圾分类尽一份力。
This international understanding day with the theme of waste sorting, which ended in the interaction between junior high school students and senior high school students, made the students deeply realize that the natural environment is closely related to us, and seriously contributed to the waste classification.
